Gr1 Titanium Disc - Premium Commercially Pure Titanium Solution for Critical Industrial Applications
Baoji INT Medical Titanium Co., Ltd. manufactures precision-engineered Gr1 Titanium Disc products backed by over 30 years of titanium industry expertise since 2003. Our discs are produced with oxygen below 0.18% and iron below 0.20% to obtain a yield strength of around 170 MPa with excellent formability indices around 85% elongation. ISO9001:2015, ISO13485:2016 and EU CE certified, every product is subject to strict quality control to assure dimensional correctness within ±0.05mm tolerance. Our production capabilities support disc diameter from 50mm to 600mm with thickness from 1mm to 50mm, to meet complex needs in electrochemical, marine engineering and precision coating industries.
Understanding Gr1 Titanium Disc Composition and Properties
The product is the most refined form of the commercially available titanium. It has very little in the way of alloying elements and hence has the maximum natural corrosion resistance.
It is more ductile than the higher strength titanium alloys. Its low interstitial content allows intricate cold shaping operations without the risk of cracking.
Good weldability is beneficial to your manufacturing processes. With sufficient argon shielding the material is easily welded and requires little post-weld treatment.

Core Applications Across Industries
Electrochemical and Chlor-Alkali Manufacturing
Your electrolysis systems need substrates that won’t pollute processes. The product is an appropriate base for dimensionally stable anodes for chlorine production facilities.
Its square-edge varieties enable effective stacking in electrolytic cells. Its high purity avoids ionic contamination in caustic soda production processes.
Marine Engineering and Seawater Desalination
Materials for seawater environment should be resistant to chloride corrosion. These discs are dependable heat exchanger parts, sealing plates with 20+ year life cycles.
Corrosion that is microbiologically affected is not a problem for well mounted components. Your maintenance periods are much lower than copper-nickel alternatives.
PVD Coatings & Electronics Manufacturing
Ultra-pure sputtering targets are required for vacuum coating applications. The disc geometry is suitable for homogeneous deposition of titanium nitride on semiconductor wafers.
Any impurity would produce arc discharge problems during the coating runs. Our controlled manufacturing method takes away the risk of contamination from your clean room operations.
Superior Corrosion Resistance Performance
Titanium naturally forms a protective oxide layer upon air exposure. This passive film regenerates instantly if damaged in oxygenated environments.
Your chemical processing equipment faces aggressive acidic and chloride solutions daily. The Gr1 Titanium Disc withstands hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and nitric acid exposure without degradation.
Unlike stainless steel, it shows zero pitting or crevice corrosion in seawater up to 80°C. This immunity translates to lower lifecycle costs in harsh operating conditions.
Manufacturing Capabilities and Customization
Discs are produced by precision machining centers to close dimensional tolerances. Surface finishes from mill finish to polished Ra 0.4μm as per your requirements.
The grain structure is preserved during cold rolling and forging procedures. Heat treatments include stress relief annealing at 650-750°C if required.
Special dimensions are available to meet your particular application needs. Whether you need thin stamping blanks or heavy forging stock, we can meet different needs with our production flexibility.
Quality Assurance and Material Traceability
Material test reports are available for each product. Elemental composition is confirmed by optical emission spectrometry to be within specification limits.
Ultrasonic testing detects internal discontinuities over 1mm diameter . Dimensional inspection reports record measurements such as thickness, diameter and flatness.
Batch traceability goes back to raw material smelting data. Your quality management system interfaces well with our established manufacturing controls.
Processing and Fabrication Guidelines
Welding Problems
The best joint quality is obtained using gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). Argon back-purging must be maintained to prevent contamination of the atmosphere during welding.
Avoid overheating which leads to grain growth and brittleness. Keep interpass temperatures below 150°C for optimal joint ductility.
Machining Guidelines
Positive rake angle sharp carbide tooling minimises work hardening. Use plenty of coolant flow to prevent heat build-up during cutting operations.
Less than steel cutting speeds avoid galling of tool surfaces. Your machining settings should be directed at surface finish, not material removal rates.
Cost-Effectiveness Through Lifecycle Analysis
While initial material costs are higher than ordinary alloys, titanium solutions have lower overall ownership costs. Your replacement cycles are months to decades in corrosive conditions.
Reducing downtime during maintenance improves operational efficiency. The lower weight compared to copper-nickel alloys reduces the need for structural support.
Material premiums are countered by energy savings in shipping and installation. Calculate ROI based on eliminated replacement costs and extended service intervals.
Product Technology and Production Process
Hot rolling and forging techniques that enhance the mechanical properties, ensuring superior strength and toughness.Ultrasonic testing to detect flaws and ensure 100% reliability.
Strict quality control at every stage of production, meeting and exceeding international medical standards like ISO9001:2015 and ISO13485:2016.

FAQ
Q: What distinguishes Gr1 from Gr2 titanium discs in practical applications?
A: Gr1 contains lower oxygen and iron content, resulting in softer material with 170 MPa yield strength versus Gr2's 275 MPa. Select Gr1 when your application prioritizes deep drawing capability or requires maximum corrosion resistance. Choose Gr2 for structural components needing higher strength.
Q: Can these discs undergo welding without special post-treatment?
A: Yes, the high purity of the product enables excellent weldability without mandatory post-weld heat treatment. Proper inert gas shielding during welding maintains ductility. The material's low interstitial content prevents weld zone embrittlement common in contaminated welds.
Q: What temperature limits apply to continuous service applications?
A: While properties remain stable up to 425°C, we recommend continuous operation below 315°C. Higher temperatures accelerate surface oxidation and potential creep under load. Cryogenic applications present no concerns as the material maintains toughness without brittleness.
Q: How do you verify material grade authenticity?
A: Portable XRF analyzers provide preliminary identification in field conditions. Laboratory optical emission spectrometry or inert gas fusion testing confirms iron below 0.20% and oxygen under 0.18%. These precise measurements definitively segregate Gr1 from other commercially pure grades.
Q: Is this material suitable for long-term seawater exposure?
A: Absolutely. The disc exhibits immunity to pitting and crevice corrosion in ambient seawater environments. Testing confirms performance in temperatures reaching 80°C without degradation. Desalination systems and offshore platforms benefit from decades of maintenance-free service.
