Baoji INT Medical Titanium Co., Ltd. manufactures high-precision ASTM F67 Gr 1 Pure Titanium Medical Bar engineered specifically for surgical implant and medical device applications. With over 30 years of titanium industry expertise since 2003, our company delivers superior-grade medical titanium materials that strictly comply with ASTM F67 Grade 1 specifications: minimum yield strength ≥170 MPa, tensile strength 240-370 MPa, and hydrogen content controlled below 0.015% through vacuum annealing processes. Our production adheres to ISO13485:2016 medical device quality management system and carries EU CE safety certification, ensuring consistent biocompatibility and osseointegration performance for your critical medical applications.
Understanding ASTM F67 Grade 1 Titanium for Medical Applications
ASTM F67 defines Grade 1 as the softest and most ductile of the commercially pure titanium grades. It is the lowest interstitial element content of all of the CP titanium grades with a maximum oxygen level of 0.18% and iron below 0.20%.
Its excellent formability makes it especially suited for non-load-bearing medical devices requiring considerable cold working. It is appropriate for applications requiring excellent corrosion resistance in physiological fluid conditions and perfect biocompatibility.
Unlike the alloyed titanium grades, Grade 1 contains no additions of aluminium or vanadium. This formulation reduces worries about possible long-term ion release and is the ideal solution for delicate implantable applications where the purity of the material is of utmost importance.

Our production process includes vacuum melting with precision and controlled environment annealing. This maintains the hydrogen content below the critical 0.015% level and prevents the precipitation of titanium hydride which causes brittleness and stress cracking under physiological loadings.
Core Advantages for Medical Device Manufacturing
Your surgical device manufacturing benefits from a broad spectrum of performance features. The good corrosion resistance of the material is caused by the spontaneous creation of a stable passive titanium dioxide layer, offering indefinite protection in the presence of body fluids such as blood, saliva, and cerebrospinal fluid.
It has a good strength to weight ratio, providing structural stability while minimising the mass of the implant. This decreases patient burden and allows for faster recuperation compared to typical stainless steel alternatives.
It is capable of osseointegration, joining directly with bone without the creation of fibrous tissue. The surface of this material is also easily amenable to bioactive coating or can be changed by anodisation to enhance biological response.
Non-ferromagnetic characteristics ensure full MRI compatibility. Your implantable devices cause little imaging artefacts and no heating or migration during magnetic resonance treatments, solving significant patient safety issues.
Medical Applications and Clinical Use Cases
ASTM F67 Gr 1 Pure Titanium Medical Bar serves diverse surgical specialties requiring superior biocompatibility with moderate mechanical demands. You can specify this material for dental healing abutments, temporary fixation plates, and craniofacial reconstruction components.
Corrosion immunity is particularly important in cardiovascular applications such as pacemaker housings and vascular clamps. The material's demonstrated thromboresistance minimises the risk of clotting in blood-contacting applications.
Orthopaedic surgeons use Grade 1 for pliable bone plates that need to be shaped in the operating room. It has good cold formability for chairside modification, and retains structural integrity post-forming.
Our precise ground bars support Swiss lathe CNC machining for production of small bone screws, micro-implant components and surgical equipment parts. We provide material for h7, h8 or h9 ISO tolerances for optimum guide bushing stability.
Quality Control and Certification Standards
Each production lot is also subjected to rigorous interstitial elemental analysis under ASTM E1409 and E1447. Hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen levels are tested accurately in our own lab to avoid mechanical property variations.
Microstructural analysis indicates the entire lack of alpha case, which is a brittle, oxygen-rich surface layer that degrades fatigue resistance. Surface integrity is checked using metallographic analysis and hardness gradient testing.
Tensile and bend testing according to ASTM E8 and E290 standards verify yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and elongation parameters. Ultrasonic inspection to AMS 2631 will detect any internal discontinuities more than 0.3mm equivalent flat bottom hole size.
Our ISO13485:2016 certification is a proof that we systematically meet the criteria of medical device regulations. Combined with ISO9001:2015 quality management and EU CE marking you will get documents to help your regulatory filing processes.

FAQ
Q: What makes Grade 1 different from other ASTM F67 grades?
A: Grade 1 offers maximum ductility and formability with minimum strength among CP titanium variants. It contains the lowest oxygen content (max 0.18% vs 0.40% in Grade 4), making it softest but most corrosion-resistant. Choose Grade 1 when cold forming capability outweighs load-bearing requirements.
Q: How does hydrogen content affect material performance?
A: Titanium absorbs hydrogen during processing, and concentrations above 0.015% trigger titanium hydride formation. These precipitates create brittleness and stress-corrosion cracking pathways. Our vacuum annealing procedures maintain hydrogen below specification limits, ensuring long-term implant durability.
Q: Can this material withstand repeated sterilization cycles?
A: Yes. The product tolerates unlimited autoclave sterilization cycles at 134°C without degradation. The material also resists gamma radiation, ethylene oxide, and hydrogen peroxide plasma sterilization methods commonly used in hospital settings.
Q: What documentation do you provide for traceability?
A: Each shipment includes mill test certificates with heat number traceability, chemical composition analysis, mechanical property test results, and dimensional inspection reports. We maintain complete production records supporting your Design History File and Device Master Record requirements.
Q: Do you support prototype development quantities?
A: Absolutely. We accommodate orders from single pieces for R&D prototyping to full production volumes. Our flexible manufacturing approach helps you validate designs before committing to large-scale production, reducing your development risk and timeline.
