5mm Titanium Plate for Medical and Industrial Applications – ISO13485 Certified Solutions
Baoji INT Medical Titanium Co., Ltd. manufactures precision-engineered 5mm titanium plate designed for critical medical implant applications and demanding industrial environments. Established in 2003 by titanium industry veterans with over 30 years of specialized experience, our facility produces medical-grade titanium materials certified to ISO13485:2016 and ISO9001:2015 standards. Our product offerings include both commercially pure Grade 2 and Ti6Al4V Grade 5 alloys, with thickness tolerance maintained at ±0.05mm through advanced rolling and heat treatment processes. Each plate undergoes strict quality verification to guarantee biocompatibility, corrosion resistance exceeding 99.8% in saline environments, and tensile strength values meeting ASTM B265 specifications for surgical and aerospace use.
Material Grades and Specifications
You'll find two primary material options when selecting a product from our production line. Grade 2 commercially pure titanium delivers excellent formability with a minimum bend radius of 10-12.5mm, making it ideal for orthopedic implant components requiring complex geometries. Grade 5 Ti6Al4V alloy provides superior strength-to-weight ratio with ultimate tensile strength reaching 895 MPa minimum, preferred for load-bearing surgical instruments and aerospace structural parts.
Our manufacturing process eliminates alpha-case formation through controlled atmosphere annealing. This ensures consistent mechanical properties throughout the entire plate thickness.

Precision Processing Capabilities
Your sophisticated surgical implant designs need precise dimensional control. To eliminate heat-affected zones that impair edge integrity, we use CNC waterjet cutting on 5mm thick plates. This process avoids the micro-cracking concerns commonly related to laser cutting on thicker parts of titanium.
Hot forming services for grade 5 alloy are provided. Where tight bend radii (as low as 20mm) are required we can form the geometry with controlled heating to 700-800°C to avoid stress fractures.
We make unique blanks from titanium plate stock in our precision die forging plant. This saves 40-60% machining time compared to starting with regular rectangular sheets.
Biocompatibility and Medical Certifications
Medical device manufacturers trust our 5mm titanium plate for implantable components because we maintain full traceability from raw material ingot to finished product. Every production batch includes material certificates documenting chemical composition analysis, mechanical testing results, and biocompatibility verification per ISO 10993 standards.
Titanium is paramagnetic, thus there are no worries about MRI compatibility. The cranial reconstruction components and surgical plates created from our material will not generate imaging artefacts and will not be attracted by a magnetic field during diagnostic procedures.
All of our medical grade titanium products are EU CE certified. Such regulatory compliance facilitates your market access in European healthcare systems.
Corrosion Resistance Performance
In industrial surroundings materials are subjected to intense chemical attacks. Titanium surfaces generate a passive oxide film that gives excellent protection in chloride solutions, in acidic condensates and in contact with seawater. Our test data reveal that the corrosion rates in 3.5% NaCl solution at ambient temperature are less than 0.02mm/year.
5mm plate thickness gives structural stability for heat exchanger assemblies and pressure vessel covering for petrochemical applications. The material resists crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in H2S containing settings when stainless steel equivalents fail in 18-24 months.
Surface passivation treatments can be provided upon request. It improves the homogeneity of the oxide layer and decreases the susceptibility to corrosion in extreme pH situations.
Custom Fabrication Services
We know that you don't always have the normal sheet sizes on hand to meet your manufacturing needs. Custom cutting to your exact specifications. Edge finishing options including deburred, mill finish or polished surfaces.
Welded assemblies can be made utilising matching filler wire with GTAW (TIG) techniques. Post weld stress relief annealing is done at 550-600 deg C for Grade 5 material to avoid delayed cracking in high stress joints.
OEM agreements with dedicated engineering support. Our technical staff helps you with material selection, optimisation of the forming process and establishment of quality specifications, adapted to your application requirements.
Quality Assurance System
Every single product that leaves our facilities undergoes various inspection steps. Ultrasonic test shall be used to detect internal discontinuities over 1.5mm in diameter. Surface examination at 10x magnification is used to verify that scratches, pits or contamination are within limitations specified in ASTM B265.
Calibration of micrometres traceable to national standards is used for dimensional verification. Flatness measurements show variance within 3mm per metre of plate length.
Chemical composition analysis by optical emission spectrometry confirms that the aluminium and vanadium content of the Grade 5 alloy is within specification windows. This avoids brittleness problems due to too many interstitials.
Product Technology and Production Process
Hot rolling and forging techniques that enhance the mechanical properties, ensuring superior strength and toughness.Ultrasonic testing to detect flaws and ensure 100% reliability.
Strict quality control at every stage of production, meeting and exceeding international medical standards like ISO9001:2015 and ISO13485:2016.

FAQ
Q: Can your products be welded to dissimilar metals?
A: Direct welding to steel or aluminum creates brittle intermetallic compounds. We recommend using mechanical fastening or transition pieces when joining titanium to other materials in your assemblies.
Q: What surface finishes are available for medical applications?
A: Standard mill finish meets most implant requirements. For enhanced osseointegration, we offer bead blasting or acid etching to create controlled surface roughness between 2-5 micrometers Ra.
Q: Do you provide material testing certificates with shipments?
A: Yes. Each order includes a certificate of compliance documenting chemical analysis, mechanical properties, and lot traceability information. Third-party testing reports are available upon request for critical applications.
Q: How should titanium plates be stored before fabrication?
A: Store in dry conditions away from steel or copper contact. Use paper or plastic separators between stacked sheets to prevent surface contamination that could cause discoloration during subsequent heat treatment.
Q: What lead times apply to custom thickness requirements?
A: Standard 5mm thickness ships within 2-3 weeks for quantities under 500kg. Custom rolling to non-standard dimensions requires 4-6 weeks depending on total order volume and current production schedule.
